Saint-Tropez, its natural habitat, is also the town that will test your planning. From 1 July the old town closes behind retractable bollards on rue Allard, rue Gambetta and place Forbin from 16:00 to 03:00, entry by prior registration filed with supporting documents — nobody talks their way through at the bollard, whatever they are driving. And on 15 August the D559 from Nice is 120 km that can take three hours, most of it stationary with the roof up. So we agree the handover point before you book, at the villa, at a named drop-off, or twenty-five minutes away at La Môle if you fly in — and we keep the Huracán for the mornings, when the road belongs to the people who got up for it.
Two habits of ours you should know. The car is handed over with the roof closed and taken back the same way; between those moments, a convertible parked two days in the open at Pampelonne is a car with a fabric roof, which merits thirty seconds of thought. And it stays on the coast — no car in this category is delivered to an alpine resort, because a rear-biased supercar on summer tyres has no legal answer to a Savoie winter, and the valley above Moûtiers is a poor place to establish that.
